Financial wellness for individuals and couples

Your relationship with money has a history. Let's work on it.

Remanso helps you understand the beliefs, habits, and experiences shaping your financial life, and turn that understanding into change you can keep. Structured, personal, online, in English or Spanish. Founded by Luis Casas, trained as a psychologist in Colombia, with fourteen years of client work and an MBA.

75 minutes, by video. You'll leave with your money patterns named and one next step. Not ready? Join the list instead.

Maybe your money story sounds something like this

  • You earn well and still feel behind, and you can't explain why.
  • The bank statement sits unopened. You know roughly what's in it. You'd rather not.
  • Money keeps becoming the fight with your partner that never quite ends.
  • You've made the budget three times. It never survived the month.
  • You spend when you're stressed, or save because spending feels unsafe, or move between the two.
  • You grew up with one set of rules about money and live inside another, and neither fits.
  • You make more than your parents ever did and still don't feel secure.
  • You're building wealth for the first time in your family, without a map.
  • There is one decision you've been avoiding for a year.
  • You've read the books. Knowing was never the problem.

None of this means you're bad with money. The way we handle money is shaped long before we consciously choose our financial habits, by family, experience, circumstance, and the world around us. Those patterns can be understood, and understanding makes room for change.

The Remanso philosophy

Money is a tool. Your life is the point.

Most money advice is about more: more saved, more invested, more earned. Remanso starts somewhere else. Financial security protects you from uncertainty. Financial freedom gives you choices. Neither is the goal by itself.

The goal is enough financial capacity to live the life that matters to you, with your time, your relationships, and your health inside the definition of wealth. Knowing what to do with money matters. Understanding why you do what you do is where the change happens.

What it's like to work together

Not a lecture and not a spreadsheet. A structured conversation, by video, where the numbers and the person holding them are looked at together.

  1. Your money story

We start with no numbers at all. Earliest money memories, the rules your family lived by, the sentence you'd finish with "money is…". By the end you can name two or three beliefs that have been making decisions for you.

  2. The gap

Then we put what you actually do next to what you believe, and look for the beliefs, emotions, habits, or circumstances creating the gap. Seeing it laid out is often the first relief.

  3. One small change

You choose one behavior for two weeks, and we plan for exactly what the old script will say to stop you. Then a plan in your own words, and you decide whether to keep going.

Why money is more than math

Financial knowledge matters. But knowing what to do and being able to do it are not the same thing. Fourteen years of sitting with families on their hardest financial days taught me that decisions are shaped by fear, family, habit, and history as much as by the numbers. Remanso is built for both halves.

  • Psychology — trained at Universidad Javeriana; licensed in Colombia
  • 14 years of community-based counseling and case management, much of it household budgeting with families in crisis
  • Finance — MBA, doctoral studies in finance, years as an investor
  • Financial therapy — pursuing the Certified Financial Therapist™ credential
  • Two financial cultures — bilingual, and a first-generation immigrant who built a financial life from zero

I don't sell products, I don't earn commissions, and I don't tell you what to buy. There's no negotiation on price, because money boundaries are part of the work. Social-service and nonprofit workers receive 20% off any package. Payment is due before the first session; sessions are valid for six months.

Things people ask before booking

Is this therapy?

Not in the U.S., not yet. Here I work as a coach: we work on beliefs, feelings, and behavior around money, and it will feel more like a conversation than a class. If what you need is therapy for something beyond money, I'll say so and help you find it.

Is this financial advice?

No. We work on behavior, not on what to buy. When Remanso's advisory registration is complete, planning and investment advice will be available under the same roof, on its own page.

Do we have to talk about numbers?

Eventually, and gently. The first session has none. When they come in, they come in next to your story, which is the only way they make sense.

Can my partner join?

Yes. Remanso 90 includes a partner session, and the whole program can be done as a couple. Money conflict is one of the most common reasons people come, and one of the most workable.

¿Trabajas en español?

Sí, completamente. Same sessions, same prices, in whichever language the story lives in.

What if I don't finish?

Sessions are valid for six months. Refunds aren't offered after the first session; that's deliberate, and it's something we can talk about, because it's usually part of the pattern.

Financial planning — coming soon

Planning and investment advice will be offered under the same roof once Remanso's advisory registration is complete, on its own page with its own agreement.

Who I am

I'm Luis Casas. I came to the United States in 2006 with a psychology degree and not much else. For fourteen years I worked in counseling and case management in Tampa, and most of the families I sat with were where they were because of money: parents working every hour and losing the time with their children the work was supposed to protect, and products built to take from the people with the least protection.

Along the way I learned the financial side as carefully as the human side, and closed the gap in my own life first. What I found is that who I am has very little to do with what I own. Remanso grew from that. My psychology training taught me to listen to the person behind the problem; my finance education taught me how the numbers work; my own relationship with money taught me the two can't be separated.

  • Psychology degree, Universidad Javeriana (2006); licensed as a psychologist in Colombia
  • MBA, Louisiana State University Shreveport; doctoral studies in finance, in progress
  • Fourteen years of counseling and case management, Tampa Bay
  • Pursuing the Certified Financial Therapist™ credential

For therapists, advisors, attorneys, and CPAs

Sometimes money is the part of the problem that doesn't fit inside your role. Remanso is a complementary resource: short, structured work on money beliefs, habits, and decisions, in English or Spanish, by video. No product sales, nothing that competes with your relationship with the client. With the client's consent I'll let you know how it went, and I refer back readily.
